Sammy Pierce Scholarship - $1,000 Award

Congratulations to the 2011 recipient of the Sammy Pierce Scholarship, Jessica Sheleg!

Sheleg will be attending Sweet Briar College and plans to study engineering. She will be accepting the award at the CPBR Membership Meeting on August 11, 2011.

About the Sammy Pierce Scholarship

Sammy Pierce was a real estate professional of the highest caliber. Well-known in the area, not only for his real estate expertise, but equally known for his willingness to help others when he saw a need. It is that quality that we hope to find in students today of any age who are going on to higher learning.

Sammy died in a tragic motorcycle accident. As in all accidents, there is never an expectation, no warning, no good-byes. The Crown Point Board of REALTORS® together with Sammy’s family chooses a scholarship recipient who best exemplifies that same giving nature that Sammy displayed. Helping when there was a need without thought to compensation or reward. 

Any member of the towns of Andover, Baltimore, Cavendish, Chester, Grafton, Ludlow, Mount Holly, Rockingham, Springfield, and Weathersfield who is continuing education in a 2- or 4-year college program should apply. Applicants may be private school students, home schooled, college, adult learners, and previous recipients.

All area high school Guidance departments will have applications. Many area REALTOR® Offices will have them, as well.
