New Lead Paint Procedure

Beginning July 1, the Vermont Lead Paint Law takes effect which requires a new disclosure form to be presented along with other lead hazard information PRIOR TO THE SIGNING OF A PURCHASE AND SALE CONTRACT. This requirement is in addition to the Federal form which you have been using. You will now need to present both forms for your client to sign.

We have added the Disclosure Form Part I and two other pieces of information to True Forms for your convenience. To assist you with this new requirement, Tom Heilmann has prepared a check list for you to follow. If you follow the steps carefully, you should not have any problems with this new procedure. Please note, there is also a Disclosure Part II which is not included in True Forms because that should be handled by the attorney at closing similar to the Smoke and Carbon Dioxide Detector Form.

Please be sure to update your True Forms to receive the added forms.

All of the forms may be found on the Department of Health website

Thank you for your careful attention.
