The Crown Point of REALTORS® provides a variety of continuing education opportunities to REALTORS® and affiliates. CPBR's continuing education program is designed to help REALTORS® meet their mandatory education requirements and to help REALTORS® succeed as professionals and community leaders.


*IMPORTANT LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION!!*

BROKERS. You need 16 credits for license renewal. Four (4) of those credits need to be the current mandatory course. The current Mandatory course is titled The Mandatory Course for 2008-2010 Renewal. Certificates must be dated between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2012.

SALESPERSONS. You also need 16 credits for license renewal. Four (4) of those credits need to be the current mandatory course.  The current Mandatory course is titled The Mandatory Course for 2008-2010 Renewal. Certificates must be dated between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2010.

EVERYONE must have their licenses renewed by the applicable deadline date - even if you've only had your license for a short period of time.

Becoming a Salesperson
In Vermont, you must be at least 18 years old and successfully complete a 40-hour salesperson pre-licensing course before taking the state exam.
The Vermont Association of REALTORS® offers salesperson at various times & locations throughout the year.
 
Becoming a Broker
You must be a licensed salesperson for two years with eight (8) closed transactions within the past two (2) years and take the 40-hour broker pre-licensing course before you can take the state exam.
 
Becoming an Appraiser
To become an appraiser in Vermont, individuals must meet specific criteria depending on the type of appraiser he or she wants to become, and complete pre-licensing education relevant to that type of appraiser.  Click here to find out more information about the different types of appraisers and the criteria individuals must meet.
 
Out-of-State Salespersons & Brokers
Out-of-state licensees who wish to become licensed in Vermont need to contact the Vermont Real Estate Commission to find out what classes they need.  Their number is 802-828-3228
 
Examination Information
The Vermont Real Estate Commission and the Vermont Board of Appraisers contract with PSI Exams to administer real estate and appraisal license exams on their behalf. Click here for Vermont's schedule and instructions.
 
License Renewal/Continuing Education Requirements
Brokers and salespersons renew their licenses every two years (even years) in March or in May. During each 2 year period salespersons and brokers must complete sixteen (16) hours of continuing education credits approved by the Vermont Real Estate Commission. Four (4) of those hours must include the 4-hour mandatory course, which is determined by the Vermont Real Estate Commission each renewal cycle.

Licensed appraisers renew their licenses every two years (odd years) regardless of how long they've had their licenses. During the two years between license renewals, appraisers must complete twenty-eight (28) hours of approved continuing education credit, which must the 7-hour USPAP update.

License renewal forms are mailed prior to renewal and must be returned on or before (not postmarked by) the applicable deadline date. Return the completed form with your continuing education certificates (be sure to make copies for your records!) and a check for the licensing fee made payable to State of Vermont to:
